Date samples Received: 27th February 2009
Horse Name: Cwmmawr
Hero
Lab Ref: 780/3096
Agouti Test: Aa- Heterozygous - The
horse is positive for the Agouti
(Bay) modifier gene, and has
inherited the trait from one parent. Since
Agouti only acts upon
Black coat colour to cause the Bay appearance, this
testing outcome
makes no visual difference to your Cremello. The
heterozygous Agouti
result does indicate however, that if Cwmmawr Hero is
ever mated to a
Black or Bay mare, half of his foals will be Buckskin, and
half will
be 'smokey black' or Palomino.
Here are some of the basic
breeding possibilities, please let me know if
there are any others
you'd like worked out.
Cwmmawr Hero x Chestnut mare = 100% chance
Palomino foal.
Cwmmawr Hero x Black Mare = 50% chance Buckskin foal.
50% chance Smokey
Black *
Cwmmawr Hero x Bay Mare = 75% chance
Buckskin foal. 25% chance Smokey Black.
*
Cwmmawr Hero x Cremello
mare = 100% chance Cremello foal.
Cwmmawr Hero x Palomino mare = 50%
chance Palomino foal, 50% chance Cremello
foal.
*The only
exception to the above is if the Bay or Black mare carries the
hidden
red gene, you would have a chance of a Palomino foal additionally.
Thanks
and best wishes
